Fan Into Flames Your SQ – Spiritual Intelligent Quotient

I give thanks to God for the gift of grace he has given to you to function in Spiritual Intelligence. It is indeed a Gift for which you should always be thankful to God.

However, you need to cultivate this Gift for maximum usefulness. Despite the fact that it is a Spiritual Gift doesn’t mean that it will not require further development. This is called capacity development, enlarging your coast, and fortifying yourself for maximum effectiveness.

Spiritual Intelligent Quotient, just like any other form of intelligence; IQ – Intelligent Quotient, EQ – Emotional Intelligence, AQ –Artificial Intelligence, MQ – Military Intelligence, needs to be enhanced and developed.

Apostle Paul, admonishing Timothy, says “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands” 1 Timothy 1:6

Any ability, talent, or gift that is not cultivated or enhanced dies overtime. Likewise the gift of Spiritual Intelligence. It dies, if not groomed to bloom. Therefore, we have the responsibility to grow in this grace of God upon our lives. Or simply said, You must nurture the grace of God in your life, and grow it. You must build capacity around the gift of God given to you.

“… you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 3:18.

Truthfully, your usefulness to God, and effectiveness among men, is primarily a function of how much capacity you have built around the grace of God upon your life. What makes your life attractive to men and to God is the value upon it.

Now the question is, how valuable is your life? How have you utilized the gift(s) given to you to create value around your life?

I was startled, when I mirrored our lives through the narrative of the Widow and Prophet Elisha in 2 Kings 4: 1-7. It portrayed a picture of why many of us are not operating and fanning to flames the gift of God in our lives. Please take time to read the full account in 2 kings 4: 1-7, and follow me as I highlights 3 points through this narrative.

  1. Counting the Gift of Grace as Nothing.

“Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.” 2 Kings 4:2.

The widow saw as nothing the oil of grace in her possession “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.”  She saw it as a small, irrelevant and useless jar of olive oil. Yet that is all that is required to change her destiny forever

Likewise, many of us see as nothing the little drop of grace in our lives. We look so pathetic, envious of others, and ungrateful, therefore we are not able to notice the deposit of grace in our lives.

  1. Not Ready and Too Lazy to Engage the Grace of God.

“Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few.” 2 Kings 4:3.

Prophet Elisha instructed the widow specifically to go and develop the grace God given to her in the small olive jar of oil, and build enough capacity to contain God’s imminent blessing, by “Going around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars”. Unfortunately, the woman was too lazy and not ready to labour in grace.

Till the end of this narrative, nothing was said about this woman carrying out this instruction. Rather, “She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons.” v5. She failed to fan into flame the gift of God in her life. She choose to limit the grace of God to her inadequate capacity.

Are you not like this widow, looking so helpless, yet very lazy and never willing to act upon God’s instructions and workout your own salvation?  You insult the Spirit of Grace each time you limit the operation of God’s gift upon your life by being careless with it.

  1. Limited Destiny by Limited Capacity Development

“Bring me another one. But he replied, There is not a jar left. Then the oil stopped flowing.”  2 Kings 4:6

The woman permanently limited her destiny and the destiny of people depending on her for survival by limiting her capacity development.

God blessings will not flow towards you beyond what you can obtain and contain. You can only be blessed spiritually to the limit of what you can contain

You cannot function beyond your capacity. Likewise, God cannot operate through you beyond your capabilities. God cannot use you, however willing and desperate you are, beyond your developed abilities and capabilities.

The blessing of God stops flowing into your life when there is no more room to fill. The oil of grace in your life will seize when there no means to function.

Dearly beloved, we often make a mockery of God’s generosity and justice by lazing and praying that God should prosper us, yet there is no corresponding action engaging the gift God has given us, or wiliness to labour in the development of the grace he had already advanced to us.  “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows” Galatians 6:7

Consequently, Satan lashes on us, taking advantage of our slothfulness, insincerity and hypocrisy, and plunder our destiny. He puts us into an endless loop of unrealistic expectations, and a roller coaster of religious activities, simply because we unconsciously think we can reap what we have not sown, and subconsciously believe that God is responsible for our spiritual capacity and growth.

Nevertheless, it is our responsibility to apply ourselves to the discipline of spiritual and physical development for life’s effectiveness. That is, you are solely responsible to prepare and show yourself approved unto God, as a workman that needs not to be ashamed, and rightly prepared unto every good work.

“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands” 1 Timothy 1:6

I pray that the oil of Grace will never stop flowing upon your life and destiny!

Next, I will be teaching on Building Capacity for Spiritual Intelligence

You are blessed!
