“But He gives more grace. Therefore He says God resists the proud, but He gives grace to the humble” James 4:6
God understands our frailty; He knows we are human at best. He is not a God who does not know our tendencies or our weaknesses. Likewise, our Lord Jesus Christ can sympathize with, and intercede for us because He, just like us, underwent the ordeal and trials of temptation but without sin.
We have a Lord who is not out of touch with our reality. He went through weakness, testing, and experienced it all.
“For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning.
Hebrew 4: 15
Apostle James tells us that God gives more grace. You need to face up to your weaknesses and inadequacies squarely and ask God for more grace to obey. You need to humble yourselves before God and acknowledge your insufficiencies and liabilities before Him. Sometimes you ought to tell the Lord; Lord, I am weak in this matter, Help me. And the Lord who answers prayers will answer your prayer.
Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favour to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].” Hebrew 4:16
If you are struggling over a matter, whether to obey God or not, and you are saying to yourself:
“If I obey God in this matter, all these fat oxen (my job, car, houses, family, wealth, friends, years of education, or all such things providing satisfaction and precious at sight), I will slay and they will all be a waste?”
If you are in such a state, just ask God right now to give you grace to obey him and to strengthen you with might to please him.
Such prayers are precious, and God delights in answering them.
“For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure”
Anytime you want to see his good pleasure fashioned out in your life, then talk to him and say:
” Please work within me to WILL and to DO of this your good pleasure”
You will find strength and overcome every temptation in Jesus Christ Name.
See, we have no excuse to fail or fall before any mountain, because “He gives more grace”. What is needed to overcome any circumstance or mountain is GRACE.
Therefore, when you find your heart unwilling to obey God, PRAY and ASK for grace!
